This year the ‘open house’ Heritage Open Days will be on the 11th and 12th of September. The Library is always open from 10am until noon on this as on every Saturday morning, but will also open from 2 until 4 in the afternoon and again from 2 – 4 on Sunday 12th September. The Plume Librarian, Erica Wylie, will display a variety of books from the library. The Friends will act as stewards on both days. We would welcome volunteers to help with this task. It is a chance to see the Library bustling with visitors.
The annual outing, on Friday 24th September to Cambridge will give you an opportunity to visit two famous libraries. The first is at the Fitzwilliam Museum where the keeper of manuscripts will show the group an exhibition of rare Persian calligraphy and the Founder’s library the second visit after lunch will be to the Institute of Astronomy at Madingley Road Cambridge.
A social event will be held in February 2010. It is expected to be an evening of entertainment following previously successful formats. Further details and booking slips will be sent out with the Chairman’s annual letter in September.
